In a press conference held at the IFA Electronics Trade Show in Berlin, Sony announced a group of new products in several categories. One of them was the new Xperia XZ3 smartphone, which makes Xperia XZ 2 a success that was launched earlier this year. The company has not yet declared any pricing details, but says its latest flagship phone will be available in selected areas at the end of September. We have been able to tamper with Sony Xperia XZ 3 from time to time and here we think what we think.

The first thing that caught our attention was the new design in front of this phone. The sides of the screen are globally prominent, making this phone feel like Google pixel 2 XL and even Samsung Galaxy S9 + (review). Sony has snatched away its long-standing love of IPS panels in favor of a vibrant OLDD panel. The 6-inch screen has a QHD + resolution with 18: 9 aspect ratio and HDR. We found the color and brightness levels very good, although we could not test this phone under the sunlight.

One more thing that struck us immediately, there was a decrease in bulk. On 193G, Xperia XZ 3 felt lightweight compared to Sony's recent offerings. This phone weighs less than Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 and is very thin at 9.9 mm. Glass back though it slid considerably, and fingerprint was a big problem.

The main specification of the phone is similar to Sony's previous flagship. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform and has 4 GB of RAM as well as internal storage of 64 GB, which is expandable. It is certified for IP 65/68 dust and water resistance, and it has a 19-megapixel motion iReR camera which can shoot 1080p up to 960fps slow-motion video. When we tried it did a great job, but in understanding, you need enough light to avoid the strobing effect in the video.

Xperia XZ3 will ship with Android 9 pie out of the box, which makes one of the first devices announced to do this. The new Xperia UI skin is quite small and we have been introduced with a new feature called Side Sense. There are touch sensors in the upper part of the edges of XZ3, and you can double-tap on both sides of the phone to reveal a little pop-up menu for the app. Sony says that this feature will use AI to know your usage pattern and will offer different apps based on your location. You can also manually add apps to this list. Some people help in using it, because your finger needs to be hit in the right place, or it will not work. If necessary, you can adjust the sensitivity of touch recognition.

In terms of Sony Xperia XZ3 specifications Xperia XZ2 looks like a light refresh. While we definitely appreciate our new design and OLED display, we can not help but feel that Sony is too late for the party. Xperia XZ2 currently retail in India for a very low price, which makes us wonder how to apply the cost of this new model when Sony launches. The company really needs to start up its flagship phone wisely, or it will not be too long before Sony has a similar future to HTC in India.
